EARTH 01 – Physics of Earth (Introduction)

This 20min. ACTeco course will enable you to understand the basics of the physics of earth material used in building construction. With short easy to understand science videos concepts of capillary bridges, chains of force and granulometry will be discussed.

For better visibility, activate the full screen then navigate with the arrows at the bottom of the screen. Interactive slides are identified with a circle in the scroll bar. Don’t worry, questions are not assessed.

Learning objectives:

  • To be able to name the different grains that make up earth
  • Become aware of the importance of the 3 phases: solid, liquid, gas, in earth mechanical resistance
  • To be able to briefly explain “how it works?”.
