Efficiencies

Energy conversions always mean losses. The efficiency factor (η) describes how much of the energy used, in this technology the available radiant energy, can be converted into heat and also used over a certain period of time.

η = useable energy / energy used

The efficiency of a solar plant is ~ 50 %. The efficiency of the collectors is decisive for solar thermal systems. The maximum efficiency of the collectors is now already over 80 %.
