Solar local and district heating

Solar thermal systems are increasingly being built to supply heat to residential areas. However, this requires large collector arrays.

Larger combined systems also offer the possibility of feeding into a local heating network. For example, several buildings are supplied with heat from a central heating system. This is particularly useful if the annual heating requirement of a building has been reduced by efficient renovation or if it has been newly built with the appropriate energy efficiency. Solar local heating networks are always combined with a storage system.
